Not As Easy As It Looks |
By Janice from Harbor Beach, Michigan |
I was excited about getting this tool for cutting strips which we quilters use in so many of our quilts. I had a heck of a time getting it to cut through just one WOF (2 layers) as even with even pressure, the cutter made rough cuts missed cuts all together. You would think the rotary blade that came with it would be sharp at least to begin with. I did cut about 20-30 strips, but almost every time it was a struggle and then I gave up and went back to a regular rotary cutter and ruler. Just in case you are wondering, I did use even pressure from one end to the other.

my favorite tool |

I have had this tool for about a year and I have started to barely use my rotary cutter. It is great for strip cutting and even for cutting squares. There is NO FEAR of being cut and you can cut strips really really fast and accurately. I LOVE THIS TOOL.

How did I live without this? There was no learning curve, I never even looked at the directions. Just started right away. Did a quilted purse last weekend full of 1" cuts... it took less than an hour and they were perfect.

Janice, the only trouble I ever had with this wonderful tool was when I put my mat on a table that was bowed...Have a solid flat surface, to put your mat on and it works perfectly!!!

Definitely difficult to use |

I am using a thick cutting mat and trying to cut through just 2 thin layers of 100% cotton fabric. No matter how much pressure I put on the cutter knob, it does not cut through. I am returning it and going back to my regular scissors.
