I have purchsed this item for the second time, as I lost my first one when we moved. I am pleased with the quality. It is made of a sturdy metal, not a light-weight plastic. I have not had any issues with the spindle not fitting. My spindle had to be tapped in with a hammer! It has not budged since.

This is a piece of junk and I bought two of them...the spool holder does not fit in the hole, the hole is too big; it jiggles around and then falls out; if you move the stand, it falls straight through the bottom as the hole is drilled all the way through. A waste of good money.

This thread stand is a must. I read the reviews here and Dianna from Texas is not using it correctly. There is a set screw that the stand fits into, not the hole where she put it. The spool holder does not jiggle. This has been most helpful for the one thread that I use that does not unwind evenly. I have had no trouble with tread breaking after using this. I use this stand with everything. It is the best, very heavy and secure.

This thread stand is great! It is made of heavy metal, very sturdy and easy to assemble. I have not had any issues with the spindle not fitting either. Mins also had to be tapped in with a hammer and it has not budged since. It is not wobbly at all. Great product!
